Environmental conditions
IT cabling standards also specify environmental conditions and IP and IK ratings. Read on to find out more.
A classification of environmental conditions (MICE concept) can be found in ISO/IEC 11801-1:2017, chapter 6.2. MICE stands for mechanical, ingress, chemical and electromagnetic rating.
The more specialized parts of ISO/IEC 11801 like
- ISO/IEC 11801-2 for office premises
- ISO/IEC 11801-3 for industrial premises
- ISO/IEC 11801-4 for single-tenant homes
- ISO/IEC 11801-5 for data centres
- ISO/IEC 11801-6 for distributed building services
all point to ISO/IEC 11801-1.
IEC 60529 specifies the degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP Code).
IEC 62262 specifies the degrees of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment against external mechanical impacts (IK Code).
