Installing outdoor cables inside of buildings
05.01.2024 | May outdoor cables be installed inside of buildings? What is written in the standards?
Installing outdoor cables inside of buildings is restricted by the standards.
ISO/IEC 14763-2:2019-12 (chapter 7.7.1.1.2) specifies that telecommunications cables that do not comply with the national or local fire regulations or the minimum recommended performance requirements of the standard IEC 60332-1-2 can be installed for a length of up to 2 m (unless an alternative distance is specified by local regulations). For longer lengths, the cable has to be installed within a cable management system that meets the requirements of a fire barrier in accordance with the local fire regulations.
